If you are giving something to your customers for free for the goods or services purchased from you, it might be wise to list the free items on the invoices and state the fact clearly by displaying the word 'Free' or 'Gift' on the free items. This sample invoice template implement this by moving the actual price and line total columns outside the print area, and then on the invoice body use Excel formulas to check whether the current price and line total is zero - if it is, the formula shows the word 'Free'; if it isn't, the price and line total are shown as usual.
The sample invoice template demonstrates the advantage of using Excel-template based invoicing. For example, Excel formula allow you to do calculations based on the value shown on the invoice template; and, by creating the range name for the print area, you can easily define what to print on the invoices. All these features combined together, makes it possible to customize the sample invoice template to create your very own invoice creator to meet your special business needs - sometimes this could be very difficult even with those complicated invoicing solutions or accounting systems.
